When you hear the words “millennial” and “homemaker,” what comes to mind? Probably nothing good. Millennials are lazy and entitled. Homemakers are repressed and have to have dinner on the table and the house spotless by the time their husbands come home from work everyday. Right? We don’t think so.

Millennials aren’t any lazier or more entitled than the generations before us. We just grew up on computers, so we can do all our work and most of our shopping without ever getting out of bed. We’re not more entitled than our parents or grandparents. We just have more resources at our fingertips, so we can get almost anything we want, when we want it.

Homemakers aren’t like June Cleaver anymore. We don’t have to take care of our homes, raise the kids, have supper ready at precisely 6:30, and keep everything spotless. We can (and often do) have full-time jobs. We choose to be homemakers, not because our husbands want us to, but because we take pride in our homes and enjoy having our friends over for dinner.
